More visibility for women in the energy transition – Green Flexibility and Aurora Energy Research launch “Women Energising Storage”

Kempten/Berlin, 9 December 2025

With the “Women Energising Storage” initiative, green flexibility and Aurora Energy Research have established a professional platform that connects women across the battery energy storage industry. The initiative aims to build a growing network of female experts who, through regular knowledge exchange, contribute strategic insights and momentum for the future of energy storage.

The idea was born out of a simple yet powerful concept: to create greater space for women in a technology-driven industry to connect, exchange expertise, and support one another professionally.

The initiative is designed as an open network for all women working in the field of battery storage and related areas. It focuses not only on professional exchange, but also on mutual support and inspiration. Every participant is encouraged to actively contribute - whether through sharing expertise or simply exchanging personal experiences.

The initiative is planning its first independent event in southern Germany for spring 2026, featuring a diverse program of business-focused topics and inspiring keynote presentations. Further details will be announced in upcoming communications.

In the interview, the three initiators - Leandra Boes (green flexibility), Christina Hepp (green flexibility) and Eva Zimmermann (Aurora Energy Research) - explain the vision behind the initiative and how Women Energising Storage is intended to be shaped going forward.

“What motivated you to launch the Women Energising Storage initiative?”

Leandra: “We wanted to create a space where women from the energy storage sector can not only exchange ideas on a professional level, but also learn from one another on a personal level. In an industry that is still strongly male-dominated, it is particularly important to increase visibility and actively promote networking.”

“What role does Women Energising Storage play in the energy transition?”

Christina: “Energy storage is a key enabler of a successful energy transition. At the same time, women remain underrepresented in this field. With Women Energising Storage, we want to highlight the depth of expertise and passion women bring to this sector - and ensure their voices are more strongly represented in the broader industry dialogue.”

“How do you facilitate exchange within the network?”

Eva: “Personal contact is particularly important to us. While online interaction is useful, direct encounters form the core of our networking activities. The initiative will regularly be present at industry events. By having a visible presence, we create a clear meeting point for purposeful networking. In this way, we foster a strong, dynamic network that shares knowledge and builds lasting professional relationships.”
